Reclaim the Night 2026

Every November, Reclaim the Night

Reclaim the Night is our annual march through Northampton town centre, calling for safer streets, an end to sexual violence and a community where everyone can live free from fear.

The 2026 march takes place on Friday 27th November. Wrap up warm and bring your banners, chants and songs. We will gather at 6.15pm in the Car Park of the Barry Road Co-Op NN1 5JS.

There will be free hot drinks at the Co-op. The march then leaves the car park at 6.30pm we walk down Wellingborough Road towards Abington Square and then across to Abington Street along the pedestrianised route to All Saint’s Church.

Together we will take to the streets to raise our collective voices against sexual violence and harassment. Our march and vigil marks the beginning of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

Why We March

Sexual violence is not inevitable. It is rooted in inequality, misogyny, victim‑blaming and systems that fail to protect survivors.

Reclaim the Night confronts these realities by:

Challenging the idea that women, girls and marginalised genders are responsible for preventing violence
Demanding safer public spaces, better lighting and improved local responses
Raising awareness of sexual harassment, assault and abuse
Showing solidarity with survivors and honouring their experiences
Creating visible, community‑led pressure for change

Every person who joins the march helps amplify the message that safety is a shared responsibility and that our community refuses to accept violence as normal.
